Did you know:

9 out of 10 people living with blindness also live in poverty. Fred Hollows knew that avoidable blindness wouldn’t be beaten in the operating theatre – it can’t happen unless governments make real plans to end poverty in their own countries and also overseas.

That’s why we’re joining a call for the Australian Government to take action on ending poverty both here and globally.

These are shocking statistics and it should not be happening.

• Almost 14 per cent of Australians live below the poverty line
• Around 10 per cent of the world lives in extreme poverty

Which is why, with the help of our supporters, The Fred Hollows Foundation works in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and in more than 25 countries around the world.

Let's help end poverty

We believe the Government can quickly take meaningful action to address poverty at home and impact it overseas. Sign our petition to join us in calling the Australian government to commit to ending poverty.

An Open Letter to Malcolm Turnbull

“No Poverty” is the number one UN Sustainable Development Goal that your Government signed in 2015. Those goals apply globally and here in Australia.

This Anti-Poverty Week we are writing to you urging you to commit your Government to ending poverty here in Australia, while also doing our fair share as a good global citizen to ending poverty globally.
